Bruce Peel Special Collections - Indigenous Photographs

This collection offers access to a selection of materials in the Indigenous Photograph Collection housed in Bruce Peel Special Collections at University of Alberta. The collection largely consists of nineteenth-century photographs of Indigenous peoples in what is now Western Canada.

Handwriting on verso indicates that the photo was taken “about 1897.” The photo is blind stamped with the name Ernest Brown, possibly indicating that it was part of the inventory of photographs that Brown acquired when he bought out C.W. Mathers in 1904
